Documentation of Dr. Oscar Wyss's modification of a potassium dioxide oxygen generator for use by the 1951 Swiss expedition team to Mt. Everest. The collection includes correspondence among Wyss and members of the 1951 Swiss expedition team, background literature about oxygen generators, a brief report of the 1951 Swiss expedition to Mt. In 1950, Wyss modified a commercially available oxygen generator to be used by the Swiss climbing team during its 1951 expedition to Mount Everest. Wyss's design failed, which prevented the Swiss team from reaching the summit of Mt. Everest in 1951.
